Wildcats fall short against the Gators, 78-72 OT

These two teams had very similar styles coming into tonights match-up: they're both guard driven teams. The Gators have Erving Walker and Kenny Boynton while Arizona has Nick Johnson and Josiah Turner, problem is Turner was suspended from Wednesday's game. The Cats hung in the game as they closed out the dual threat of Florida guards, however Patric Young dominated the point with 25 points. After building up a lead that vanished in the last few possessions, the Cats had a chance for the buzzer-beater down by one, but Nick Johnson dribbled the ball off his foot. The Gators then went up by three, but they fouled Solomon Hill. Hill made all three free throws and the game went into OT. The Gators proved that playing OT in an opponents home-court is never easy as the Gators pulled away.

Cardinals top the Cowboys, 19-13 OT

The Hyphen's 52 yard catch and run for TD in OT topped the Cowboys in another thriller in this West rivalry. The Cards defense and Kolb's return to the starting line-up truly fueled the intensity For Sunday's game. Romo and the Cowboys were contained until a Dez Bryant TD catch, but Kolb and the Cards offense responded with a 3 yard Beanie TD run. Romo and the Cowboys could've won the game with a last second FG, but the Cowboys iced their own kicker with a timeout. The TO negated the 55 yard kick and Dan Bailey missed his second chance. The Cards got the ball in OT and scored off a bubble screen to LaRod Stephens-Howling for the winner.

Wisconsin tops MSU, 42-39 for a trip to the Rose Bowl

Wisconsin will get another shot for the roses after last years' loss to TCU. This years' path was a bit different in the sense that instead of a tie-breaker with MSU, a championship game with the Spartans decided who would go to Pasadena. The inaugural Big 10 game was a memorable one as the two teams went back and forth. Bucky Badger was the last team to make the move as Russell Wilson and Montee Ball set up a three point lead. Sparty had a chance to tie or take the lead as a punt was returned to the three, but a roughing the kicker call ended the game.

Oklahoma State smashes Oklahoma, 44-10

Ouch... This was essentially the Big 12 Champioship game, with the winner going to the Fiesta Bowl. Better yet, it was a Rivalry game. In a Sooner-dominated series, the Cowbays always had the short end of the stick, but tonight the Cowboys showed that they are number one in Oklahoma. The game was never close as Brandon Weeden, Justin Blackmon, and co. ran the Sooners out of Stillwater. Even with the impressive win, the loss against Iowa St. will truly cost OSU a spot in the title game.

LSU headed to New Orleans, crush Georgia 42-10

You can credit the Honey Badger for LSU's appearance in the National Championship game on Jan. 9. After an awful first half on offense, LSU's rock solid defense and Heisman finalist, Tyrann Mathieu, kept Aaron Murray's Bulldog offense on hold. The fireworks in the Georgia Dome didn't start till Mathieu returned a punt for a TD and LSU's rushing attack exploded. 42 unanswered points by the Tiger's show that this team is the best in College Football.

So. Miss tops Houston for C-USA championship, 49-28

Austin Davis and the So. Miss Golden Eagles must be all smiles after knocking off the No. 6 team in the country on ESPN for the C-USA Championship, but the Eagles cost C-USA a ton of money by denying a non-BCS school from the Sugar Bowl. The game got off to a rough start as both offenses sputtered out of the gate, but the So. Miss offense woke up first and eventually ran the Cougs out of their own building. Case Keenum and Kevin Sumlin must have a bitter taste in their mouths after lengthy careers at Houston that did not end with the Sugar Bowl.

No. 1 Kentucky tops the No. 5 Tar Heels, 73-72

This was supposed to be a No. 1 and No. 2 match-up, but the Tar Heels stumbled earlier this year to UNLV. The game was nevertheless great, as the Wildats' Super Frosh Anthony Davis, Marquis Teague, and Michael Kidd-Gilchrist led their young team to Kentucky's 38th straight win under John Calipari at the Rupp Arena. Kidd-Gilchrist had a career day as he scored 17, the highest for a game in his short career. Anthony Davis has emerged as a menace on the paint when he blocked John Henson's buzzer-beater attempt to seal the game. Now that the Cats have ousted a premier opponent, they look like a young, talented squad with huge potential in March (and maybe April).
