Saints top the Lions, 45-28
The Lions return to the NFL playoffs was short-lived, but they fought hard. The only problem was that they were put up against Drew Brees and the red-hot Saints. Matthew Stafford and Calvin Johnson hooked up a few times for TDs, but Breesy made things look easy as he racked up 466 yards against the Lions secondary. Detroit set the tone with a great opening drive and really controlled the game in the first half. It wasn't till the second half that the Saints explosive offense ignited and it wasn't till the last quarter that the Saints marched away. The 49ers will have to put up big offensive numbers if they want to win in Candlestick.

Early Christmas present, the Lions are in the playoffs
The Lions were in a situation that they haven't experienced since the 90s, they were at the doorstep of the playoffs. All they had to do was win, but their opponent was the red-hot Chargers. San Diego also shared a similar playoff hunt situation and seemed poised to leave mo-town upset. However, Matthew Stafford and the Lions came out hot with guns-blazing. They ripped the Chargers secondary for big yardage and got out to an insurmountable 24-0 lead at the half. The Lions would hold on for a 38-10 win, putting the team in the playoffs for the first time since 1999. With the loss, San Diego is eliminated from the playoff chase.

Lions stun Cowboys with a furious rally, win 34-30
The Lions proved to be for real as they stunned the Cowboys to reach an impressive 4-0 record. After falling behind 27-3 in the 3rd quarter, the Lions returned two INTs for TDs, jacked a Field Goal, and scored two Calvin Johnson TDs late in Arlington. Matthew Stafford and the Lions proved they can make a run in the NFC North as they rattled Tony Romo and came back to become one of only two undefeated teams in the NFL.(the other team is their division rival, Green Bay Packers)

Detroit demolishes Kansas City, 48-3. Charles carted off with injured knee
We all knew Detroit would be good this year... But not this good. With Matthew Stafford healthy so far this season, the Lions ripped apart the reigning AFC West champs as they dismantled their defense and possibly all hopes for this season. Jamaal Charles left the game with what appeared to be an ACl injury, which would sideline him for the rest of the season. Matthew Stafford tossed for 294 yards and 4 TDs as he hooked up with Calvin Johnson twice. Detroit will look to improve their record as they travel to Minnesota next week; Kansas City will travel to San Diego next week. The Lions have been extremely efficient on offense after racking up 75 points in their two games. KC has only scored 10 points this season but they've been bullied on defense after letting up 89 points in only two games.
