Arizona beats Toledo in OT for the first win of the RichRod era

The RichRod era has begun in Arizona and it started off with a great offensive performance; however, something was missing: scores. The Wildcats amassed 624 total yards, but managed to only score four times in their 24-17 OT victory against the Toledo Rockets. The offense was superb and fast paced, oftentimes running a play once the referee set the ball, but there were too many mistakes. Toledo isn't a bad team and should be a favorite to win the Mid-American Conference, but they should've been pummeled. The Cats offense had so many opportunities to score TDs, but two were called back by penalties and the Cats fumbled three times in the redzone. Arizona should have won in regulation, but John Bonano shanked a 26 yard field goal at the end of regulation that would have given the Cats the victory. Instead the game went to OT, where the Cats recieved the ball first and scored on a beautiful Matt Scott scramble-and-throw to Terrence Miller for the 10 yard go-ahead score. The Cats defense would hold on and give Arizona its first victory of the RichRod era. The offense looks to be one of the most productive offenses in the Pac 12 as well as Arizona history with Matt Scott throwing, running, and handing the ball off to Ka'deem Carey, who looks to be an explosive RB that the Arizona program has lacked for quite a while.

Toledo tops Air Force in a wild Military Bowl, 42-41

The Toledo Rockets and Air Force Falcons headed into Wednesday's match-up in the Military Bowl with a victory on their minds. By days end, Toledo emerged victorious as they imposed their passing offense against a run-happy Air Force offense, but the Falcons gave the Rockets everything they could handle in a classic shootout. Air Force's game plan was quickly altered once they fell into a 21-7 hole in a wild display of first quarter offense. Tim Jefferson, the Falcon's option QB, started throwing the ball with efficiency in the last three quarters and the shootout was on. The Falcons tied the game at 21, then Toledo scored a TD, which Air Force answered with a TD of their own. This pattern carried on till there was 1:32 left in the game. Jefferson threw a TD, but Air Force opted to do a trick-play FG option-run, which was fumbled in the end zone and Toledo held on for the victory.

Kellen Moore throws for 455 yards and 5 TDs as Boise State rolls Toledo, 40-15

Boise State QB Kellen Moore tossed for 455 yards and 5 TDs as the Broncos ripped a pesky Toledo team Friday night in the Glass Bowl. After coming off a close 27-22 loss to Ohio State looked to bounce back against the Broncos. Toledo looked good on the opening possession as they scored the opening touchdown. The Rockets looked to take all the momentum by going for a 2pt conversion, but failed. Boise State would then run away with the game as they scored the games next three touchdowns. Kellen Moore earned his 40th win of the season and know looks like a solid Heisman candidate by throwing for 716 yards and 7 TDs so far in this early season.
