Team of Destiny? Yes

Congratulations to the University of Louisville Cardinals Men's Basketball Team for winning the 2013 NCAA Div. I Men's Basketball Championship. Watching this tournament was a treat and watching this finals match-up of the Michigan Wolverines and Louisville Cardinals was a pleasure. Both teams deserved to be in this spot and both teams were a part of a special championship game. Louisville won this game, but let me tell you, Michigan did not help themselves. Earlier this month, I saw a graphic of the Final Four coaches. Boeheim and Pitino are obviously solid; however, the coach that had the most concerning credentials was John Beilein. The team that he has is extremely talented, but extremely young. He is the one that needed to be the "X-factor", but the key decisions that he made during the final did not help his team out. The NCAA Player of the Year, Trey Burke of Michigan, was taken out of the game early by Beilein after he picked up his 2nd foul. Burke's absence was the reason Louisville was able to come back from a double-digit deficit and change the course of the game. A player like Spike Albrecht could only do so much for the Wolverines during his little shooting spurt, but experience counts on these national stages. Michigan could have won the game, but the sports gods smiled upon Pitino and his Cardinals. They wouldn't be stopped and they Won for Ware. Great game. Well deserved title to the Louisville Cardinals.

No. 1 Kentucky holds back No. 4 Louisville for the Title Game berth

In a rare tournament match-up of two rival schools, the blood kept it close but the sweat won the game. That's what happened on Saturday as the Kentucky Wildcats ran past their rivals, the Louisville Cardinals, for the right to go to the Championship game. Kentucky played dominant basketball in the first half, but Louisville did just enough to keep the game close. And it got close. In fact, it was tied on a Peyton Siva pull-up trey in the second half, but the Wildcats gathered themselves and held back the Cardinals en route to the Title game, thanks to a game-high 18 points by Anthony Davis. where they will be matched up either against the No. 2 Ohio State Buckeyes, or the No. 2 Kansas Jayhawks on Monday night.

No. 4 Louisville rallies against the No. 7 Gators for the right to go to New Orleans

The teacher beat the student for the 7th time in the Pitino- Billy the Kid match up. However, the Donovan led Gators had a major choke-job as they allowed the Cardinals to rally late in the game. It was a close game for most of the first half, then Florida ran away for an 8-point halftime lead. Florida never panicked even as Louisville went on a few short runs to cut into the lead, but they could not buy a bucket and Louisville took advantage by taking the lead with a minute to go and the first Final Four spot by winning, 72-68.

No. 4 Louisville rallies against WKU, win 70-60

The Cards overcame a sluggish start against the visiting Hilltoppers to beat them 70-60. Rick Pitino's bunch was challenged in the first half and fell in an 8 point hole, but rallied to win and advance to a great 12-0. They better be careful during the next week since they will take on the 16th ranked Georgetown Hoyas at the KFC YUM! Center and a date with their instate rivals on New Years' Eve at the Rupp Arena against the Kentucky Wildcats.
