Falcons rip the Jags, 41-14
This game wasn't even close... Matt Ryan and Michael Turner showed why the Falcons will make it to the playoffs on national television. Blaine Gabbert was pestered all night in the Georgia Dome and the game got out of hand too quickly to run the ball with Maurice Jones-Drew. I'm still not sold on the Falcons making a playoff push, but if they can oust New Orleans for home-field advantage, anything can happen in the playoffs, especially in the Georgia Dome.

Leinart screws over another team
The Texans lost Schaub for the season, so Gary Kubiak's team put some faith into the former Heisman winner from USC and Cardinal QB. The game started well for the Texans as they focused on grinding the ball with Arian Foster and Ben Tate and setting up short passes for Leinart. Leinart led the a texans to a TD over the Jags, but right when you think Leinart is starting something good, he let's you down. However, to be fair, his collar-bone let him down and now Houston must invest in rookie QB for North Carolina, TJ Yates. Yates would preserve a 20-13 win over MJD and Blaine Gabbert's Jaguars at Everbank Stadium.

Jaguars squeak past the Ravens on MNF, 12-7
Blaine Gabbert picked up his first win against the Baltimore Ravens on MNF in Jacksonville. The rookie did just enough, going 9-20 with 93 yards to lead the Jaguars to 4 FG and a hard fought win on primetime TV. Maurice Jones-Drew carried the ball 30 times for 105 yards as both teams ran constantly but ineffectively. The Jags are now 2-5 in a weak AFC South but the Ravens lose first place in the AFC North to the Pittsburgh Steelers.

Blaine Gabbert named Jacksonville starter
Rookie QB Blaine Gabbert was named the starter for the Jacksonville Jaguars on Wednesday due to the poor performance by QB Luke McCown against the New York Jets. McCown threw four INT, sparking the decision of coach Jack Del Rio to put the 10th overall pick from Missouri at QB. Jacksonville will take on Cam Newton and the Carolina Panthers those Sunday in Charlotte. It will be interesting to see if Gabbert performs well in his first start and if Newton can continue his arial assault on NFl defenses.

Jaguars cut Garrard, McCown to start
The Jacksonville Jaguars cut starting QB David Garrard Tuesday. The split will save Jacksonville $9 million this year. In a wide open division with Peyton Manning sitting, Jacksonville took themselves out of the picture by cutting the reliable Garrard. Without Garrard, Jacksonville has named Luke McCown the starter with Rookie Blaine Gabbert as his back-up.
