Boise State routs ASU for the Las Vegas Bowl, 56-24

Kellen Moore capped off his stellar career at Boise St. with a bang, but yet again, against an inferior opponent. His 50th win is the most for any QBs career in college football as he passed for 292 yards, however his RB Doug Martin won MVP. The Sun Devils could simply not stop the bleeding from their regular season as they let up big play after big play, including a Doug Martin opening kick-off return TD. By letting up a bunch of TDs to the Broncos, Brock Osweiler saw plenty of time on the field and put up good numbers with the thanks to his top wide receiver, Gerell Robinson. This will probably be the last we see of Boise in the Las Vegas Bowl since they're moving to the wide-spread Big East next year.

Mountain West and Conference USA merge for a 22-team league

After talks of 4 super conferences with the Pac 12, Big 10, ACC, and SEC; the Mountain West and C-USA merged to avoid becoming an afterthought in FBS college football. With Boise St, Air Force, TCU, SMU, and Houston, the MWC-CUSA conference will have a few elite teams unless the other four conferences, the Big East, or the Big 12 tear them apart. TCU is already due to join the Big East and there are some speculations Boise St and Air Force will follow.

Kellen Moore throws for 455 yards and 5 TDs as Boise State rolls Toledo, 40-15

Boise State QB Kellen Moore tossed for 455 yards and 5 TDs as the Broncos ripped a pesky Toledo team Friday night in the Glass Bowl. After coming off a close 27-22 loss to Ohio State looked to bounce back against the Broncos. Toledo looked good on the opening possession as they scored the opening touchdown. The Rockets looked to take all the momentum by going for a 2pt conversion, but failed. Boise State would then run away with the game as they scored the games next three touchdowns. Kellen Moore earned his 40th win of the season and know looks like a solid Heisman candidate by throwing for 716 yards and 7 TDs so far in this early season.

Boise State bests the Georgia Bulldogs

Boise State captured their first win against an SEC team with their convincing 35-21 victory over the 19th ranked Georgia Bulldogs. Georgia, an up and coming team in the SEC East led by sophomore QB Aaron Murray proved to be no match against the 5th ranked Broncos of Boise. Boise QB Kellen Moore went 28-34 with 261 yards, 3 TDS and a pick as Boise State defeated a ranked opponent in two consecutive season openers. If Georgia ends up winning the SEC east and Boise State can manage an undefeated season, the Broncos deserve to play in a BCS bowl.

Who will win the Heisman trophy this year?

Before the 2011 college football season starts, I'd like to take the time to compile a list of the players I think have the best chance of becoming the 77th Heisman trophy winner.
#1. LaMichael James, Oregon: The junior enters this season with 3,277 career yards, 38 total TDs, and a 6.25 yards per carry average. James rushed for 1,731 yards and 21 TDs as a sophomore and will look to improve on his third-place Heisman finish and the Duck's National Championship berth last year.
#2. Trent Richardson, Alabama: The Crimson Tide lost both McElroy and Ingram to the draft this year so it is likely that they will rely on a strong defense and a steady running game out the junior Richardson. Though he has been former Heisman Trophy Winner Mark Ingram's back-up for the past two seasons, the half-back has racked up over 1,451 yards with only 257 carries. There is even talk in Tuscaloosa that this back might be better than his predecessor.
#3. Denard Robinson, Michigan: The Michigan Man is the ultimate dual threat at quarterback this year. "Shoelaces" has earned National fame from his elusive runs to losing his shoes. Dual-threat Quarterbacks have the highest chance of winning the Heisman, however he'll have to work on his passing if he wants to take the hardware. Unfortunately for Robinson, he plays for a mediocre Michigan Wolverines squad that is in the middle of a rebuilding stage. When you aren't surrounded by top-notch teammates with talent, it's hard to win.
#4. Andrew Luck, Stanford: Though many say he is the best college football player in the country, Andrew Luck lost one of the best offensive head coaches when Jim Harbaugh left for the San Francisco 49ers. Luck has only one proven wide receiver in Chris Owusu and will need more than his 3,338 yards passing last season if he wants to win the Heisman. Luck will also have to beat Oregon to prove he is the best in the west. 
#5. Kellen Moore, Boise State: The Boise State Broncos have one of the nations best quarterbacks in Kellen Moore. He passed for 3,845 yards and had a 71.3% completion rate last season, partly because he played in the WAC. However, this year Boise will play Georgia and TCU, which allows them to earn a BCS Bowl berth if they finish undefeated. If Moore can lead the Broncos to the a Championship, he'll have proved himself worthy of a Heisman label.
